Shirley Steels, an actress described as a "pioneer" of the amateur dramatics scene, who died on 12 September, 2008.
She was the president of Porthill Players, died at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire after battling against ill health.
Shirley will be sadly missed by all her friends and family.
A colleague of many years ago.
When I started my first job as an office junior in 1959, young Shirley Proudman, as she was then was one of the most memorable characters in the place.
She was outgoing, jolly and full of life. She used to refer to me as "Clive M' Boy!" and this sort of jollity helped me to feel accepted by the predominately female staff.
I will never forget her,
